She's been like this for 20 minutes

I just love it when Lily plays freeze tag with me. It's hilarious when she locks her hands or arms into a position for like ten minutes or more. And what's more... she's totally passed out! She's been like this for 20 minutes. Sleeping that is. And... she's been spitting up a lot today... that explains the bib. Just a short post today. Laters.

Daddy's Little Girl

I cannot imagine a daddy loving his little girl more than Jeff loves Lily. They definitely have a special bond. He loves to read to her and talk to her. I love overhearing their little conversations on the baby monitor. She has definitely got him wrapped around her little finger.

Jeff has been such a sweetheart with all the help he gives me as I experience the highs... and the lows of motherhood. After only four weeks of Lily's life, I had a conference to attend and Jeff courageously offered to take care of Lillian overnight! I was apprehensive, but excited for the short getaway and for the opportunity that Jeff would have to bond with his little girl. They had a successful 24 hours together. She was such a good baby for him! He said he was gonna take his baby on a date and that is exactly what he did. He drove to Soda Springs with Lily and visited Rikki at the Gate City Real Estate Pumpkin Patch. Lil slept the entire time!

I feel blessed to have a man like Jeff in my life. He is so unselfish and takes such good care of "his girls." (Maya too). Haha.

Da Crib... and Da girls who love Lily

I have some amazing women in my life. My family, my church girls, and my friends. Today I want to dedicate this section of my blog to my friends in my life. They are true lifelong friends. We go waaayyyy back. We went to grade school together. We played little league together. I suppose if you call picking dandelions and holding hands in the outfield "playing little league", then that is what Taya and I did! It was the 5th grade where we tried to play football with the boys. During 7th and 8th grade I had a lot of fun cheering with some sweet girls and became acquainted with Eddie Brickell and the New Bohemians, and the 4 Non Blondes.

High school hit and ohhhhh the memories. We've made a lot of them over the years. Sports, cheerleading, dances, parties at Danielle's and Sarah's, night swimming at Alexander Reservoir and 60 swimming hole, jumping off cliffs to my father's dismay, toilet papering (homes and the gym floor). I could go on for days on the memories I've made with my friends during my high school years. We all went away to college after high school, but our friendship didn't go away. Each one of us has changed, but our bonds to each other have stayed so strong. I feel so blessed to have friends that know who I am and love me unconditionally.

We started a tradition of buying a crib for each other. I wanted to share a pic of Lily's crib and send my love out to da girls. I love this gift and appreciate their generosity.

As Lily grows, I hope that she has the opportunity for friendship that I had. It is a rare thing... what we have, and I only wish for Lily to have girlfriends that are there for her the way my friends have been there for me! Luv!

Pre-Halloween

SO, we definitely had to get Lily a costume for Halloween. Jeff really wanted to dress her up as "three peas in a pod"... a little pea pod bunting costume. The one we found was pretty cheesy and I talked him into letting me buy a ladybug costume. Lily is definitely a little small for it but she is absolutely adorable in this little costume.

Every time I see the little boppy thingies that go on her headband I think of Real Genius. There is this scene where Val Kilmer is interviewing for a job with one on his head and this guy says "Why is the toy on your head?" in a really nasally voice. Does anybody know what part I'm talking about? Well, Jeff does because anytime that thing is around I'm quoting that movie and laughing hysterically at myself.

Good stuff. Can't wait for all the candy that Lily will get trick or treating! Score.

The Beginning of Little Lily's Pad

Little Lillian Ava Lowry. This picture was taken when she was only 4 hours old. Lily was born at 11:49 am on Tuesday, September 21st, 2010. She weighed 7.7 lbs and was 20 inches long.

So, I thought I'd try out this blogging business and what better time to start than with the beginning of life. The life of my first child, Lillian Ava. She is practically perfect in every way. She had somewhat of a traumatic birth but has bounced back and is a super strong 5 week old. She was holding her head up on day 2. She has such strong legs and great reflexes. She is absolutely the most beautfiul baby in the world. I love everything about her. Lily has the most beautiful little lips, and she makes the funniest expressions in her sleep. My favorite is "Blue Steel" for all you Zoolander fans out there. I really can't wait to start to see her personality as she gets older and interacts with us more.

Lily does all the textbook newborn stuff: Cries, creates mountains of diapers, and sleeps (thank goodness!).

Motherhood took me by surprise and I am proud to be part of this wild and crazy ride called parenthood. It is nothing and everything I imagined it would be all rolled into one exhausting yet very exciting big pile of fun.

Well, that's a start. I hope to post some fun pics on my blog along with some video clips so that some of my family far away can see their little Lilypad in action.

Lowry out.
